#364 Work Priority MalfuncShawn

Well today was far better on the commute, but far worse at the office.

There were only a total of 5 of us in the office today, which don't get me wrong, THAT was awesome,  but there were two people from Finance that basically wanted a pint of my blood, a kidney and my first born.

And as of 3PM they both fucked off until the 2nd. Meanwhile myself and 2 others have to come in tomorrow because it's the "end of year", which means there's a shit load of EXTRA things to do and only three of us to manage the entire office.

Can. Not. Wait.

Not!

#356 Last Minute Office Task FrustraShawns

Holy Crap on a Cracker!

The office was 2/3rd empty today, and yet I'll be damned if today was not one of the busiest days of the year.

Curse you Prep for Year End!

Curse you to HELL!

Tomorrow is supposed to be a half-day for me, but I'm not so sure.   I was supposed to leave atr 12:30  but in all likely hood it's gonna be 2 or 3 pm.

SIGH!

#351 Office - Christmas PreperaShawns

I have already checked out, mentally, at the office.

Not only have we been prepping at home for the past month for Christmas, but also at the office. Because our clients are the Nuclear Medicine departments of Hospitals, and because historically they get next to no bookings over the last 3 weeks of the year, and the first week of the new year, they decrease or cancel a lot of their regular orders.

The logistics of those changes, and their implications for pur productions as well as their shipping, means we start mid-November.

Well I was fortunate in that I got all of my clients' changes/cancellations completed, and all summaries and reports complated and sent out.

Now that this is done I am spent and I honestly am only physically in the office. Mentally, I'm already at the cottage on Lac Massawippi, waiting for Santa...

Well today was a much better day!

I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO productive!  OH MY GOD!

Look, if I *HAVE* to be in the office, there is nothing I love better than a day where I get a poop-load of things done.  Files and folders emptied and re-filled.  Changes, and Excels, and print Jobs and Scans.

Tomorrow is Friday and I believe I'll be able to just coast to 5 pm.

#337 Office HallucinaShawn

I'm not even sure I went to work today....

Far be it for me to complain about the work day going by quickly, but there is such a thing as 'too quickly'   I swear, I got to work and then next thing I know it was quarter 5!

Look, I don't wish to still be there, but I honestly could have liked a couple more hours to get things done.

I fear what tomorrow will be like...

#323 DistribuShawn DistractShawn

Oy-Vey!

Talk about a lost and found desk...

I was at our Distribution Center today. And the senior clerk there took me into a room with a large table full of boxes of products and returns, going back to 2011...

Some of these needed immediate attention, while others had been discussed and confirmed at length over the years. And yet, there they say.

Some products are still usable / sellable, while other *were* but are no longer because... nothing was done.

After an hour, I went back to my temp desk and caught up on my own tasks, but damn if this doesn't piss me off. Especially since my name was plastered on a lot of these things...  It's a good thing I don't throw out any email, because I was able to provide whole email threads concerning a great many of these.

I go back on Friday to continue helping to resolve issues and answer unasked questions.

Fun.

#322 Meeting DebilitaShawn

It was touch and go for awhile today.

I thought I might not make it.

I was passing in and out of consciousness.

4 hour long video conference meetings ought not be legal.

I mean, I'm pretty sure they contravene several Treaties and Protocols of the Geneva Conventions.

I need a drink!

#316 Office NotificaShawn

Can't say I was surprised. I don't think anyone was or will be.

The still "New" Distribution Center Supervisor gave notice last night apparently. I think he's been here 2 months.

So now we're back to one employee.... until a new Supervisor is found, as well as the still un-filled 3rd employee.

Good times.

Le sigh.

They say, "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all."

I usually don't follow that rule, but I thought I'd see what it's like...

So, today at work...

#308 The Neverending QuestShawn(s)

Just curious…

Is there a polite way to say that? Because honestly, I don’t know how to say it without raising my voice and adding in 2 or 3 F-bombs.

I’m trying not to break the neck of a co-worker, but for the love of all that’s holy, if she asks me one more question I shall surely snap.

The only thing more frustrating to the number of questions she spews forth, ad nausium, is the fact that she never listens to your answers.

I mean… WHY BOTHER??!  Just sit at your desk, do your job and leave me the fuck alone!

Some day’s I just cannot cope. Today was one of those day…

Her pending retirement next fall will not come soon enough I fear to keep me out of jail.

OMG! JUST STOP ASKING ME QUESTIONS.

#303 Managerial RepatriaShawn

The Eagle has landed.

And by 'Eagle', I mean my 'Boss'.

And by 'landed', I mean 'he came into the office, for the first time in 2 weeks. After all the mess ups, bumbles and fuck ups. And after the letter I  sent last Friday."

Surprisingly it went well...

But like the past few weeks, Fridays are the most unpredictable and incendiary...  AND it's all Hallow's Eve...  so... yea... I will be wearing a ward of protection.

#302 Tunnel ViShawn

There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Or at the very least the current tunnel.

Thankfully the mistakes seem to have come to an end, as the one good employee we have at of shipping dock is back from vacation.

Of course he’s SWAMPED!   Not only trying to clean up the near endless mess-ups from the past few weeks, but also stay afloat with the daily tasks, and training his new manager, and the Boss….

His Boss is my Boss….who it should be noted was already trained once already from the two people that he fired for making a mistake. Back in August.  One. ONE mistake, you know… compared to the countless mistakes HE made over the past two weeks…   And it’s not that  his original training was not good, it’s because he seldom if ever listens to anyone that points out anything. Offers input, direction or help. He’s got it all figured out. Everything is calm and good. No worries here.

…but back to the light….

It’s almost as if I can just do my regular job.

#301 Perfect ImperfecShawn

You have to wonder about the length of a noose one requires to hang themselves.

Of course there were more shipping issues over the weekend. The fall-out which is still in play.   Incorrect documents, poorly packaged boxes and missing tracking info.

All in all  a marked decrease in issues, but issues nonetheless.

Consistent inconsistencies. Seems to be the new normal.

If there is a method to this madness, it’s clear I am far too sane to decipher it.

#300 ContinuaShawn

Well, so far so good.

The Boss is still working remotely (presumably still cleaning up the messes from the past two weeks), but any interaction, email / phone has been extremely cordial.   Not sure if that's because he's been addressed by HIS Boss, HR or both.  But I am still interested to see how it will be upon his return to the office proper.

In the mean-time we're all enjoying his absence.

One day at a time.

#298 RedempShawn

So I have to do work on Sat and Sun, every weekend, unless I'm on vacation.  IT is only a few minutes here and there. A couple hours total over the weekend,, but I don't mind because I can bank that time, cash it in or use it as time off...

I don't typically check my Work Email however, because if any issues might arise, I'd receive a phone call. But given the last week I thought it prudent.

Well, I could not have been less surprised, and giddier than a school girl at a One Direction Concert...  We received an email from our Primary Transport with a scathing review of the last 3 weeks, how health regulations, and required documentation has been abysmal and unacceptable. It also included CAP LOCKED segments.

But yea...  what I reported yesterday was over exaggerated and there's no problem, and all the issues were ironed out before yesterday.

Ha and Double HA!

I will sleep very well tonight, and look forward to any back-lash that might be headed my way.

Bring. It. On!

#297 DocumentaShawn

Okay... so I just can't keep on saying "See Yesterday". Well, I could, but things gotta change.

After more than a week of absolute bullshit, I and my co-worker composed an email to our Boss, and cc'ed 2 Directors and the VP. (With the VP being our Boss' Boss.)

This 6 page email documented - in point form, mind you - the myriad of errors created by our Boss and or his employees from our Distribution depart, including, but not limited to lost sales, delayed shipments of goods to Hospitals across the country, spoiled product and need of replacing goods, routing and packaging errors, lost stock and costly shipping mistakes.

Clearly my Boss was none to impressed, but then I have no doubt that otherwise the vast majority of these errors would have gone unreported.

What was a little disappointing (but not entirely unexpected was that his Boss does not seem to care). Fortunately, the others included in the email do.

Ultimately we cared about the company, our reputation and image, and not losing sales and having to write of  thousands of dollars in wasted stock.

At the end of the day, I'm glad that it's out there now. Because if the mistakes continue, (And for the record 3 have since reporting) the only people that can be help responsible are our Boss and his.
