#364 Work Priority MalfuncShawn

Well today was far better on the commute, but far worse at the office.

There were only a total of 5 of us in the office today, which don't get me wrong, THAT was awesome,  but there were two people from Finance that basically wanted a pint of my blood, a kidney and my first born.

And as of 3PM they both fucked off until the 2nd. Meanwhile myself and 2 others have to come in tomorrow because it's the "end of year", which means there's a shit load of EXTRA things to do and only three of us to manage the entire office.

Can. Not. Wait.

Not!

#328 Just another Manic Monday FrustraShawn

Mondays as a rule suck.

The Monday Morning Commute, sucks to an added degree.

This particular Monday Morning Commute went far and beyond the call of duty... or rather the STM did.

So a massive Thank You and Merci to the STM for reminding me that today is Monday! (Like I could forget) But you really didn't have to have TWO Slowdowns AND an Interruption of Service to do this... the alarm clock and then the rain to start the day were more than enough.

My 45 minute commute was stretched to just a little over 90 minutes...

Bell you STM... you certainly make me feel I get my money's worth.

#322 Meeting DebilitaShawn

It was touch and go for awhile today.

I thought I might not make it.

I was passing in and out of consciousness.

4 hour long video conference meetings ought not be legal.

I mean, I'm pretty sure they contravene several Treaties and Protocols of the Geneva Conventions.

I need a drink!

#280 Technical Support FrustraShawn

So Last night was part two in the (near guaranteed) ongoing over Technical Support for my Mom on her Tablet.

If you’ll recall, back in August we got my Mom an Nexus 7 tablet.  Well the learning curve continues.

Tonight was a 90 minute phone call to have her set up her email… Not sure EXACTLY way, because she’ll do her email on her desktop computer anyway… she just want so have it… just in case….

Surprisingly I was able to get her up and running faster than getting her connected to her home WIFI (back in Sept)

And she promises me she’ll keep a notebook , where she’ll write down any questions she has, and will save them for weekends.

Oh joy!

#262 ExhaustShawn

Today was a double edges sword, pressed firmly at my neck.

Sure I was ecstatic that Typhoid Mary called in sick today.

But the thing is she didn't even complete all her work from yesterday. So, not only was I dealing with my own work, plus all the A/R work (Which I have every Friday anyway), I was also cleaning up and completing her work from Thursday, plus all her work for today, and prepping all her weekend shipments.

Then on top of that she called at least 5 times to tell me other things that needed my attention because she hadn't done them as well.

She's not in on Monday (which I've known for 2 weeks) but of course none of the prep work for that was completed either because she would have completed that today as well.

Thanks for nothing old lady!

I'm on my 2nd double Gin n Tonic...  I think it's gonna be an early night...

#238 Parental Technology EducaShawn

Last summer, my Mom fell in love with our Nexus Tablets. Of course all she did was play Majong, but he was in geeky Techno Love.

So this spring Marcel and I talked about getting her one for Christmas this year. But given the learning curve, and to be honest, just the set-up we realized it was not a good gift since we'd not be able to walk her through it in person.

Well, this vacation she was again asking to use the tablet to play games. And she wanted me to go out shopping with her to get one.  Well okay... I guess I can do that. We finally found some at Target. And she was going to buy one but her bank card wasn't working, so I said let me get it and bam... a minute later I kissed her on the cheek and said "Merry Christmas"

Then as we left Target she said, "Okay, now I want to get an iPhone." I just did NOT have it in me to walk her though this.

The next hour was spent setting up her gmail account and prepping her table. And repeating the basics.  On. Off. Volume. Email. Face Book,  Download Games.

And now I've guaranteed myself to endless calls of It doesn't work. What's Wrong. Fix it... all over the phone...

And god forbid when I get my NEW iPhone in the fall and send my 4G to her...

I have pretty much guaranteed myself a quicker path to the grave... the years this is going to take off my life...

Pray for me.

#134 Office DissatisfacShawn

30 minute meeting with the "boss", to discuss my 2014 Objectives. Because that's the sort thing you like to finalize in the middle of May.

Then I had a two and a half hour phone conference. Regarding security, record retention, document storage, hand-written signatures vs electronic signatures vs bio-metric signatures... and other scintillating topics.

Living the dream people, living the dream.

Kill me now.
