#346 Winter MagiShawn

I know I'm beginning to sound like a broken record.  But it's STILL snowin here in Montreal.   I'd say we got another 6-8 cms today. And tonight... well, its that big feathery, fluffy slow-mo type of snow that's falling.  It's PURE MAGIC!

If this keeps up much longer I'll soon be reverting to my 8 year old self and making snow angels!

And I could not be happier if that happens!

Okay, I knew I’d like Paloma Faith’s new Album. But I didn’t think I’d madly in love on my first listen.

Oh me of little Faith.
(pun intended)

Honestly, I really feel an addiction forming between my ears and her voice.   It can’t be healthy, but I don’t care.   Between my Morning Commute, Lunch and Evening Commute I’ve listed to the album 4 times from start to finish, and now I have ♫ ♪ Only Love Can Hurt This Way. ♪♫  on repeat. Repeat, repeat, repeat!

Without exaggeration, it’s an 11 out of 10.

I originally bought her 2nd album after hearing her perform live on the Graham Norton Show. (one song)  Who does that anymore? But a foll CD based on one Song?  I don't even do that... but I did then, and I don't regret it!

And then after receiving an iTunes certificate last Christmas, I bought her original first album after sampling a few tracks.

The purchase of her third Album was a long drawn out wait, and was purchased without listing to one sample.

I now know, going forward any time she has a new album. I will purchase as soon as possible (if not sooner!!!)

Etsy.

It's difficult to explain why it's an addictive site, but it is!

I can however blame Marcel directly... He is indeed my Etsy pusher. He got hooked on the site 2 weeks back and is spending literally hours and hours per week scrolling through countless pages... and he's officially hooked, he's purchased something already.

Okay so have I, don't judge!

It's a never-ending site full of anything and everything you could possibly imagine... every craft known to man and then more never imagined! Clothes, painting, photos, ceramics, jewelry, and on and on and on. If you can't find something you absolutely MUST HAVE within a half an hour, then you obviously have everything you've ever wanted, or didn't know you wanted... in which case... give me some money so I can increase my collection. Thanks.

#079 Disappointing AccumulaShawn

Well I knew we wouldn't get as much snow as was forecast last night, but hope springs eternal. (pun intended)

Sure it was nice to wake up to a coating of white on everything, but it soon disappeared with the rain and mild temps. The people at work teased me all day. *rude*

Makes me long for last Spring when we received a record dump of over 30 cms of the good stuff. *sigh*

One can only hope that Saturday's snowflakes are more reliable. It's not that I want a lot, just enough to piss off the warm weather crowd. :-)

Maybe I'll make a quick trip to Notre-Dame and light a votive... I wonder who the patron Saint of Snow / Winter is...

#075 Irritated Avian Addition

Hi,

My name is Shawn and I'm addicted to Angry Birds.

Angry Birds.
Angry Birds Seasons.
Angry Birds Rio.
Angry Birds Star Wars.
Angry Birds Star Wars II.
Angry Birds Friends.
Angry Birds Go.

I have them installed on both my iPhone and Nexus Tablet.

Not a day goes by that I do not play.  In fact, during waking hours, not 6 hours go by where I wont play. On my morning commute, while on the throne, at lunch during weekdays, or just while on the sofa, because hey, I can watch TV and play Birds. Can't you?

I don't think I could even tell you why I'm so addicted, because I really don't know... I guess I just really like to win. WIN WIN WIN.

Currently most of my time is spent between Friends and Go.

Marcel often just comments, "Angry Birds, again."

Honestly I've been hooked on Birds since I got an iTouch in 2009. And I've been playing Every day since.

For now I know I've got a problem, but I'm not looking for a cure. :-)

FTR, Bad Piggies, sucks.

#033 Abbey CaptivaShawn

Between yesterday and today, we watched all nine episodes of Downton Abbey, season four.

Why oh, why oh, why can't British Television create a longer season?!  Don't get me wrong, I know it's usually 6 episodes, and that a 9 episode season is immeasurably better... but even still...

And when I said yesterday how I adored the scheming, I really had no idea just how fabulously deep and wicked they would go... and all to save the Monarchy! One has just no idea how well the Crawley family can work as such a clandestine force.

The upside of doing a marathon viewing is you remain completely in the moment of the show, the down side is that once it's over, it's co completely over. So now we must wait eleven more months before the next series.

Oh the tragedy!
Oh the drama!
Oh the dry British wit!

Four episodes of Downton Abbey down... 5 to go.

I used to think "Another World" was My Story, and maybe it was, back in the eighties... but it's that was then, and Downton Abbey is now.

Honestly there is just so much I love about this show...

The drama. The scheming. The sex(ual innuendo and tension at least). The scheming. The dysfunctional family politics. The scheming. The money. The scheming.

I. LOVE. IT.

Cannot wait for tomorrow!

Addict is a nasty word, I prefer Enthusiast. When it comes to Eggnog I am over-enthusiastic to say the least.

For as long as I can remember, I have loved the drink. Straight, in coffee, with rum or Tia Maria, as a substitute for milk when making ice cream, pudding, pancakes, cookies, you name it.

The sweet, smooth, creamy, luscious, indulgent, nectar is something I cannot live without. Come mid-November comes along, I am on the hunt. Checking my local grocery stores, daily. And when it comes on the market, I buy it in bulk. Two, four, six litres at a time. By the end of December I begin to hoard the drink.

Once January rolls around the rationing begins. Long gone are the days of tumblers full of the beverage. We are now in the Coffee Nog only days of the year. It's now a question of how long can we make it last. We are now down to just a little over 1 full litre of Nog.  At best we could make it two more weekends. There is no way we'll beat the record of February 3rd for last glass.

And once that last sip is gone, it's a long agonizing waiting game until mid-November.

Until then, it's Keep Calm and Nog On.
